From its opening moments when the baritone Jose van Damm delivers a wonderful last public performance in his role as the hero of this movie (”The Music Teacher”), to its climactic vocal competition and sad ending as the Music Teacher leaves the world to Mahler’s “In my Love, In my song,” this beautiful and unique movie will captivate anyone who loves vocal music and the life of the artist.

This really is a movie about love and music and the triumph of the artistic spirit. The musical choices throughout the movie blend harmoniously with the plot and the characters.

Van Damm gives a masterful performance both as a vocalist and as the teacher. A touching, memorable, and artistic triumph as a movie, on a par with the best of operas, though one need not be an opera buff to enjoy the drama.

Bargain sweeper that works. We use it at our buisness. It gets used and abused by all the employees. Works great and when it dies I buy a new one. Why pay three times the money for a fancy sweeper that doesnt do any better job?
Every Night Is A

Here are my problems with this book:
1) Remove the sex and animal cruelty scenes, and it reads like a script from a bad Disney movie.
2) The main character is shallow and throughout the book I had no idea what made him do the things he did. Why did he join the circus in the first place? Not once did he mention missing his dead parents, his home, school etc. Didn’t he have any memories from his childhood, no worries about the future, no relatives, no friends? You never knew what he was about to do next, because his motives, thoughts and emotions were never dealt with, and that’s probably because the writer had absolutely no idea how to do that properly.
3) I get the feeling that some people liked this book simply because it was so easy to read even Bobo the monkey would get it, since it lacked any depth or complication in the script or the characters. Readers who rate this kind of books with 5 stars have obviously no idea what real literature is.
4) The dialogue was poor, and so blatantly contemporary that it made me angry at the writer’s lazyness of doing her research properly.
5) It was so obvious that the writer was a woman that you could not get it out of your mind even for a minute.
6) I’m no prude, but I’m sure images of the masturbating dwarf will be haunting me for a long time.
7) Trust a good old disaster/great accident to get rid of the bad guys for you. That way you don’t get to kill them yourself and become (gasp!) a bad guy yourself. I would be curious to see how the main character would get out of all that mess if the stampede had not happened. 8) If you owned a circus and half a brain, would you hire a 90 year old cripple whith serious health problems who ran away from a nursing home and whom you have just met? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
9) I can’t really recall the sex scenes, which means they we probably not as graphic as some readers suggest, and as for the animal cruelty parts of the novel, yes, they were (theoretically) gruesome but failed t

I liked everything about this book, but I especially loved the contrast between Jacob as a young man and his life as a 90 (or 93) year old. It’s one of those stories that older people tell that makes young people realize they need to sit down and talk with the elderly people they know, or this type of story is going to be gone forever. Jacob’s story of the circus and falling in love were so moving, but when you see what happens to Jacob as an old man, it is bittersweet. I was expecting the end to be much more of a downer – I thought the ending was very uplifting.
A Woman s Heart

Yes, i did heat up the water (not boiling hot) before putting it in the unit to start cleaning.
You DO have to be careful with the unit putting it together since the plastic is very flimsy which is a shame since it does the job and was very effective for the room and stairs i used it on. My unit did not come with the piece to clean out the suction area so i just unscrewed the cover off of it and washed it down.

Could this be better? absolutetly! but if you need one that will work this is the machine for you. I used it with the professional pet detergent. I did have leakage when i letthe unit stand upright while i used the stair hand held accessory but a small price to pay to get them clean. This still saves me money by not havingto call in the pros to clean and i don’t need an appt. I just wish they would improve on it.

The Emperor s New

i was in the market for a carpet cleaner that actually does what it’s supposed to. Based on amazon reviews, and a consumer reports magazine article, I chose this particular model. I am very glad I did. I used this on berber carpet that was installed 3 years ago, and never been steam cleaned. I have 3 dogs(and the accidents that eventually happen), 2 kids and a husband that refuses to remove his shoes after coming in the house. I was skeptical that this machine could clean up the dog urine stains, and dirt stains that had worked into the carpet. Well I was wrong! I couldnt believe the dirt that came out of them! My carpets not only LOOK clean, they smell better now too!
And the Hoover was easy as pie to work with. The key to getting the most out of this machine is from the old Aesop’s fable- slow and steady wins the race! Take your time going over the carpet, and you will see a great difference. I have only used this Hoover once so far on my carpets, and I know after using it more I will notice an even better difference.

In Television Disrupted, Shelly Palmer does a great job at presenting the probable futures of TV. From broadcast to narrowcast, from linear to dynamic and time-shifted,from analog to digital, Shelly explores and tries to anticipate the response of “old media” (networks) to “new media” (networked). How will “IP” and user generated content overcome inertia and established advertising / revenue models? All fascinating questions in a well thought-out framework. In the end and as always consumers will choose and define what is to become a much richer experience known as Television 2.0!
