I bought the Garmin Portable Friction Mount because I was looking for a convenient and non-permanent way to mount my new Garmin NUVI on my dashboard. When I saw this product on Amazon, I was skeptical that it would work the way it claimed to, but there were so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint. The unit is easy to put together with the bracket that comes with the GPS, and is very easy to position into place on the dashboard for optimal viewing by each driver. And, yes, amazingly, it stays where you put it, even when turning corners, or coming to quick stops. Another advantage is that the mount can be removed from the car or stowed under the seat when not in use, so nobody knows that there might be a GPS in the car. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a practical GPS mount. One thng to keep in mind, though. Your dashboard has to have a sufficient amount of flat surface area for the mount to rest on in order for it to work properly.
