My husband and I did a lot of research for a bike for our 4 1/2 year old daughter. We wanted something that was strong, safe, and durable but pretty too. Everywhere we looked it was barbie this and princess that, which don’t get me wrong, my daughter loves them too but when is enough…enough already! We got the bike the other day and pulled it from it’s box to find that there weren’t many directions but the bike was practically already assembled. What little assembly left to do was quite simple with our without directions. Once put together it is obvious that the quality is pure Diamondback. My husband and I both have owned our own Diamondbacks in the past and have always loved their products. This bike is even cuter in person than in pictures! We are thrilled and can’t wait to see her face on Christmas morning.

Very impressed with the quality; its immediately clear coming out of the box that this is not a cheaply made bike. Even the training wheels are made from solid rubber and metal. Only had two issues. First, there were no assembly instructions in the box (although not really much to assemble; i.e., front wheel, pedals, handle bars, training wheels and seat). There was an owners manual with the bike (how to ride, safety instructions, adjustments, etc.) but nothing specific to this actual bike or its assembly. And secondly, the seat covering was trimmed short on a small spot in the back so that a couple of staples were not making any contact with the internal hard frame in the seat — albiet minor, I would still consider this a defect in workmanship and might call the company about sending me a replacement. All considered though, we are delighted with the bike and trust that it will easily be in use for many years to come. Very highly recommend!!!

Great *ROAD* bike for the Price. Ordered the Katana from Amazon about a month ago. Since then, I’ve put 20 miles on Diamondback Jr Viper BMX Bike riding through hard sand/gravel on the C&C Canal path by Georgetown, Maryland. Half way through, it started to rain, and we were pedaling in wet weather. Obviously the bike stood up well, even in those rough sandy conditions where it wasn’t designed for. After that, I used a high-pressure hose to spray off all the sand/gravel that got caught in it. Then after drying and oiling it up properly (brakes, chain, etc.), it works like a charm now on the city roads, where it was designed to be.

All said, this bike comes from amazon pretty much pre-assembled. It helps a lot to assemble it with someone who’s done it before, but I managed to do it alone, without ever assembling a bike before. All you really need is: 1) an adjustable hex wrench for the pedals, and for taking the back tires off. 2) allen wrench set for putting the handle bars on, and readjusting the brakes/gears.

The good thing about the cantilever breaks is that they’re very easy to adjust to the right tension with one person, one hand holding the cable, and one hand tightening the screw. (Read the instruction manual to set this up the right way so you get it right on the first try).

Then, after adding some chain oil (Finish Line, Wet Lubricant) to the chains, and some brake cable lube (Tri-flo mineral oil or White Lightening wax lube), your bike will run very smoothly.

Excellent affordable bike.. For the money this bike is worth it. I wanted a street bike for traveling, but didn’t want to spend too much and that is just what I got. It is super lightweight, fast and easy to assemble with basic tools. The only complaint I have is the seat hurts. This was easily solved with an aftermarket gel cover. I have done 100 miles now with no mechanical problems at all.

good bike for your dollar.. I bought this bike a few days ago. It was very easy to assemble. However, the box was open when it got here, so I can see how several other people who also purchased this bike may have lost pieces. I suggest that you have a friend (who knows a lot about bikes) help you to fine tune it once you’ve put it together. ie the brakes, and the derailer. My derailer was very rough to begin with but now only slightly. I also had to turn the piece over which connects to the handle bars in order to elevate the bars. like the previous posts said to do…it will turn the schwinn logo upside down, but it will solve your problem. to sum it up…after a few days of use, it seems worth the money.

GREAT BIKE. I have been racing BMX for over 10 years. Trust me Diamondback Viper BMX Bike is a very good bike. There is only one problem though… NOTHING. My favorite part about this bike is that it is really light and easy to handle. Its really good bike for anyone that wants to race BMX or go freestyle, its also a great bike for just riding around. Its just not that comfortable for going on long bike rides. Normally it comes in a 24″ rims. Like i said i have used this bike so much that i am accually on my 3rd bike. I would highly recommened getting this bike.

great biike!. Im a starting racer. And i know this bike is better than most bikes out there by diamondback. It is very light, considering your age or how good your skill is. it is VERY fast and has outstanding breaks.

GREAT!!!!. I thought this bike was made for Freestyle BMX but it is a racing bike!(oops) It is considerably lighter than other bikes though, but it wasn’t really made for street or vert. It rides better on dirt with the tires and all. Other than that I really love this bike! The brakes work extremely well and is fun to ride. I don’t race but I know it is very fast.(Diamondback makes great bikes!) :^)
