We purchased 2 of these cards last August, one to be used with a Nikon D40x, and one for a new Nikon D5000. The one being used in the D40x became unreadable within a few weeks, although we were able to recover the images with recovery software after much frustration and some expense in time and money. The one being used in the D5000 survived about a year, but just became unreadable as well. Fortunately, they were not critical pictures. Buy something else. I did, and I’ll let you know how the SanDisk I just ordered works out….

Title: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Pages: 214
Time spent on the “to read” shelf: 4 or 5 months I think.
Days spent reading it: 4 days.
Why I read it: The Catcher in the Rye is an American classic and very controversial. I honestly wanted to see what was so controversial. Also, it was one of those “classics” that I did not read while in high school. In researching about it later I read that in 1981 it was the most censored book in US high schools and the second most taught book in high schools. It was one of the 10 most challenged books in 2005, but it came off the list in 2006. Those are some fun facts for you.
Brief review:
This book frankly annoyed me. The writing has very repetitive and had many aggravating sayings in it. The word “really” is used almost as much as the curse words that are prevalent throughout the book (one reason it is often censored–I would guess that gd appears 2-3 times a page at minimum, sometimes significantly more). And I assure you, both appear more than they need to, I really mean it.
Holden Caulfield is the main character. He is the epitome of teenage angst. His world is utterly pessimistic. He sees only the bad in everything except his sister and his deceased younger brother. He is bright, but is failing out of school. He is obsessed with sex, but cannot develop a relationship with a girl. He is active and pursues all the pleasure trappings that a big city have, but has no defining meaning to his life.
The book covers three days between him being kicked out of school and his untimely return home. Holden is depressed, hates everyone, exaggerates EVERYTHING (annoyingly so), and seems to have few people skills. In short, he is the perfect anti-hero and irritating enough that I did not like him one bit while reading this book.
I suppose this book speaks to the hearts of some disaffected youth, but they would have to be interested in drudging through 200 pages of dribble in order to find the voic

The 305 is a huge improvement over earlier models. The GPS lock-time is significantly faster with the 305. I’ve gotten a GPS signal inside my house within 30 seconds. In addition, the smaller profile of the 305 makes it easier to use on a wrist. It looks and feels like a large wrist watch and not some monstrosity or rejected design for an ankle monitoring bracelet.
The software for Windows is excellent. Retrieving data from the 305 is a snap, and it is nice to overlay your running routes onto a map. I used to enter all my running data manually and it became cumbersome when I got lazy and forgot to record a year’s worth of data. It tracks and monitors your heart rate data if you have the heart rate sensor strap. Speaking of the sensor, it is very cumbersome and uncomfortable to use. I had the strap fall down to my waist numerous times. I had it above my pectoral muscles, under my pectoral muscles, tightened it, and did almost everything short of duct tape it to my skin each time and it never failed to loosen up and fall down to my waist. The data that it collected was acceptable at times, but more often than not I got erroneous data and it didn’t really contribute much to my running pattern. It is a great idea if the strap had been incorporated into the watch itself to monitor my pulse. I don’t see why I need to strap a huge wireless antenna to my chest to get the data.
The display is very clear and easy to read. The buttons feel very mushy and it isn’t just because of the silicone material that covers the buttons. There’s no tactile response so I second guess whenever I try to push a button. I had to set up the 3 screens the way I wanted, but there’s no speed display for joggers. You only get to see your pace, and speed is available only to bikers. However once you download the data to your PC, the speeds are available. In the older Forerunner, you could easily set it to display speed in MPH for jogging.
Pros: Easy to use once you spent the time to set it up, rec

I don’t understand all the negative reviews. I have so many memory cards and I’ve never had one problem. We have them in 3 cell phones, GPS, 4 Cameras (Digital SLR to pocket cameras), camcorders, digital picture frames and I am sure there are a few more I am not thinking of. This is my third “class 6″ card and like all of the others it works great. I bought this card for a new Panasonic Lumix camera. The price was the best anywhere (by far), the shipping was fast, etc., etc., etc. 100% satisfied with Amazon, Transcend, the seller and the card.

Kindle is great for reading mass market paperbacks, text only books/books without illustations, and newspapers in Kindle format. The screen is easy on the eyes, unlike a computer screen, which can also be read in bright sunlight.
However, Kindle has shortcomings both due to the device and the content offered by the publishers.
The biggest disappointment is not being able to read downloaded pdfs from research journals easily. I purchased the Kindle to avoid reading these on my computer screen or printing them out and wasting all that paper. The device needs to have the same functionality as a computer in manipulating pdf files so the text can be enlarged. The text is usually too small even in the landscape orientation which only makes the text slightly bigger.
The publishers do not include all the content of the printed version and/or are sloppy in creating the Kindle format. The book covers are oversimpified and are not as they appear in the Kindle store. Some links might be missing – one book did not have a link to the table of contents. The illustations, photos, geneology charts for biography and history books are often missing in the Kindle format or are too small to read and cannot be enlarged. The maps in the travel books I purchased were sparsely detailed or too small to read. You cannot browse the material easily unless you know exactly what to search for.
The Kindle store search function is cumbersome and does not sort the results intelligently. A search for travel books on Japan yielded all the books on Japan in the whole store, not just the travel ones. The “try a sample” option does not show enough of the book to get a good feel for it’s content. I purchased a couple of travel books which didn’t have the information I was looking for.
I was hoping the Kindle could replace all the books and papers I carry for on the go reading – that’s not the case yet. There are a lot of things to be worked out before that becomes reality, despite what

The Garmin Friction mount is an awesome product. I am very pleased with the way it stays on my dash, no sliding or movement at all. My friend had one and I got to try it out before I purchased. I was very pleased with it and of course ordered it from Amazon.com. Amazon has always given excellent service, price, and timely delivery.

“The Help” by Kathryn Stockett introduces the world to three characters we won’t soon forget: Aiblileen, the maid/nanny who raises white children with more love than most of their parents ever give them; Minny, the housekeeper with famous cooking skills, and one hell of a temper; and Eugenia ‘Skeeter’ Phelan, the writer in her early 20s who finds herself surrounded by racial injustices during the civil rights movement, appaled by the way her white friends treat their help, even though she herself grew up with an African-American maid she loved dearly.
Kathryn Stockett acurately captures the dialect and speech patterns of the South, taking the reader into high society livingrooms to witness the action first hand. Don’t be misled into thinking this is a book that solely focuses on civil rights in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960s. It does do an excellent job of shining a light on the social injustices of the time, but it is the three strong women, with their backbones and big hearts, that really steal the show.
Aibileen loves all 17 little white children she’s raised as much as her own son, and she’s determined to make sure Mae Mobley, her current charge, grows up assured of her own self-worth and kindness, and that she turns out to be a much better person than Mrs. Leefolt, the child’s indifferent mother. Minny takes a job for the Celia Foote, the town’s social outcast, after losing her job due to the ‘terrible awful’ thing she does to Miss Hilly, the town leader and head bitch troublemaker. (You will HAVE to read the novel to see what she does, but it will surprise the heck out of you!) When Hilly campaigns to have everyone in Jackson put in a maid’s toilet–so Hilly won’t have to soil her behind by sitting on the same pot the maid used when she visits her friends–a line is crossed. Skeeter decides to write a tell-all book, and after a bit of coaxing, Aibileen and Minny agree to help.
I finished this books days ago but cannot get the characters out of my

Single handedly the best $270 I have ever spent. Great for music the screen is better than my hdtv For video. Apps are amazing controls are great.
I only have two complaints:
1. No flash player so many websites won’t work
2. No mic if you don’t like the earbuds you can’t use voicecontrol and some apps like shazam need a mike to work
But otherwise amazing worth every penny
